Fifth, Sixth, Seventh, and Eighth grades are currently involved in many things. We are learning how to read notes on the staff in order to perform on the Orff keyboard instruments. We are studying rhythm more in depth than the lower grades. We have also been singing songs and improvising and composing lyrics to them.
We are creating rhythmic ostianatos with the percussion instruments we received from the DonorsChoose grant. These instruments also assist us in learning more about and understanding other cultures and their history, particularly as it relates to music.
Additionally, one eighth grade class is working with BoomWhackers. They are working on Darth Vader's Theme from Star Wars, the Imperial March. Stay tuned for a video of their performance!
Here are some links for students:
Note Identification Test - Also click on "Scatter" at the top to practice. -- When finished, click print, the be sure to write your name at the top. Put in Mr. Jackson's Box.
